I had kinda put this aside during the week, as it wasn't scoring well. Meanwhile, my shot for Minimalism in BW would be my PB if the challenge ended right now.
But, as the week went on, this kept getting wonderful comments. When I hit "update" I started looking at this first for new comments instead of watching what may turn out to be a PB. I'm glad to see it connected with many of you. Thank you for the kind words.
*Also, my first fave! Bonus!

This is spectacular for its brilliant minimalism. Composition is perfect... originally gave this an 8, then bumped it to a 9, and now, looking at it to comment I think it deserves a further bump... so, a 10 and a fav too for good measure. Love this image so much.
Layers (vertically and horizontally), lines, textures, cool, muted tones. They all come together impressively. I like the disjointed rhythm in the fence panels, and the single bird taking flight (or is he landing?). Incredible. A nine for you.
I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This is an unusual composition with bold use of negative space, I like the contrast and the coloration too. The one gull with the stretched-out wings offers an effective anchor for the eye to wander from.
Critical stuff: Not much - intrinsic interest in the scene is on the low side but I do like what you've done with it,
There's a big fat dustspot on the upper left corner that I can't stop staring at that could have been cloned out.
I like the shot though. Very simple. Nice textures on the fence.
overall I like the shot but I think that there are some things that might be worth considering, such at that empty bit of roof on the left of frame, the fact that some of the seagulls blend into the white roof.
