Challenge: Shallow DOF V (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: Flowers and Bugs
Camera: Nikon D700
Lens: Nikon MF 105mm f/2.5 AIS
Location: Springfield, VA
Date: Jul 19, 2010
Aperture: f/11
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/250
Galleries: Macro, Floral
Date Uploaded: Jul 23, 2010

The pistil of a daylily with just the tip (stigma) in focus. I know, flowers are stereotypical shallow DOF subjects, but I love this kind of shot! Especially of daylilies.

Had all my extension tubes attached and used diffused flash for fill light.

PP - cropped, shifted hue slightly warmer, increased contrast, 2nd layer (Gaussian blur, lightened, merged in multiply mode at 20% transparency), touched up sensor dust spots, desaturated and dodged stigma, resized, sharpened, added border.
