I love the work of Bea Di Febo Dax- It has such delicate beauty and is an absolute joy to behold.
To my workflow: The flower isn’t sitting on rippled water (as some comments suggest).
I put a thin layer of the fluid you use to blow bubbles with onto the surface I was using and, before every shot, ran my fingers through the liquid to form the “ripples” and quick! quick! placed the flower on the fluid, grabbed my camera and took the shot before the fluid started to straighten out again (which happened within seconds)…
Lighting from the left (behind the flower) and low down from front.
Thanks for the comments and fav. and many, many thanks to Bea for the inspiration.

Well, talk about surprise! THANKS for the ribbon, I'm also delighted seeing my own first image on the front page!

Irene.....This is spectacular.
Would you explain what is the surface you put the soap on? Glass, mirror??
I am wanting to duplicate your vision and am a photo neophyte. Could you be more specific about your lighting setup.
Thanks...and congratulations on your Ribbon.......Jim
Really like the idea with the ripples, does a better job than what the "flood filter" tries to achieve (but never really does it right) in Photoshop - and all in-camera.
If there was any critique to offer - you have used a very sharp gradient in your selective sharpening / blurring of the area around the flower which detracts from image. Congrats on yet another ribbon - i fear you may do well in the upcoming minimalism challenge too ;)
Why am I not surprised to see the nanme IreneM twice in the ribbons during this challenge? :-) Congrats on the ribbon and I shouldn't have been surprised to see your first entry was pretty much impossible for me to replicate!
Congrats on the yellow Irene! This was one of my favorites. An outstanding shot. You had me fooled on the "ripples". You have a great creative imagination for getting these cool effects.
