This has been an amazing 2 days into voting, I already got 100 votes and 21 comments, how crazy is that??
But they are in fact great comments, and I really agree with what is said.
I wish I could have had more time to redo this, but it was just on short notice.
The whole thing was prepared and shot in one hour, after work.
Got some friends (thank you guys!!) and went to a nearby location.
As you realize, I first had to place the people with empty frames in front, then take the pictures to print inside the frames, go to my car (where I had brought a home printer and a power supply), print the shots, frame them, and then recompose the shot with the people, to see if it all lined up.
Unfortunately, the sun was on when we took the pictures for the frames, and between that and the final picture it went into hiding, hence the difference in the light.
I do wish I had a clutter-free background, and also more time, so I could compose more carefully, but it was the best we could do.
Sitting at 7.2 with 100 votes is a very good feeling, let's see if it's enough to ribbon.
After challenge Whoohoo!!
This was so much fun, and a record for comments, it was my most commented image during voting, amazing!
Thanks for all the wonderful opinions, they are very important for me.
Thanks to Bárbara, Sam, Telma and Filipe for their patience and for being such good sports :)

They say better late than never, so here I go:
Great idea and execution to match. I think your description is worth an "How did they do it" tutorial. Regarding the cluttered background, maybe if you could add a 6th picture of that bg, it wouldn't be perceived as distracting but as part of the image.
I love this!
As you know yourself, this photo has a number of technical flaws.
However, I'm not sure if it would have the same make-you-smile charm if it was technically perfect.
Lovely idea, and a big pat on the back to everyone for the effort.
A photo that makes you want to stare and figure it all out. :) Congrats! Seems like you went to a LOT of trouble to get this shot, including bringing along a printer and power supply! :) Well deserved.
Congratulations man, this was a blast to help you with! Great vision to have thought this up and then actually manage to get it done in so little time.
It's a really good concept and the frames are placed in a very interesting way. Why did you choose that background? The bright area and the concrete building really draw away from what is a cool set-up.
Think I've seen this on TV somewhere! Cool idea but the portraits are off a bit too much to look really great. Lots of hard work I know cause I have done something similar too.
I really like the idea, my only criticisms would be that the lighting in the prints isn't exactly the same as the final shot and the area in the top right is blown out.
If you could have done this with a less cluttered background, it would probably have been a 9. The overly bright area in the right part of the background is distracting, and the trees and building also distract from the picture. The rest is very clever and well done. 7
Very clever, and clearly a lot of thought and planning went into this. I'm curious about the black line that seems to connect the hummingbird shot to the woman's thigh? Also, the background is really distracting, plus I think that the image might have improved with more/different processing.
rather intricately constructed :-) I'm impressed at that level. But technically, as far as lighting and all, as far as the ambiance of the thing, I'm sort of underwhelmed, so a mixed reaction from me.
Would have been higher except the background's a bit distracting - especially the blown highlighted section. I guess you needed this location for the multi leveled set up.
