Part of the fireworks display at Penn's Landing on the Philadelphia waterfront. I was on the New Jersey side of the Delaware river on the Promenade in front of the Adventure Aquarium. This vantage point gave wonderful views of the show with the city in the background. I needed to use the Sigma 10-20 at 15mm to be sure to capture the whole scene. You can see a string of lights at the waterline. They are strung from bow to stern on the USS Bulkeley (DDG84). A US Navy destroyer that was in port for the holiday. Tours were given to the public. link
As always, I learned a little something that I didn't know before I shot the fireworks that night. I was surprised and a bit upset that my images were taking as long as the exposure was, to write to the card. I purposely bought class 10 SDHC cards to avoid long write times. I found that the in-camera noise reduction was turned on and this caused my problem. I needed to do some research to find out how to change that setting.
I didn't get as many shots as I would have liked as a result. Lesson learned!
Great fireworks picture. I know exactly where you took this from. I may have to plan to be there next yr I can watch them from here. It's about 5-10 minutes from my aunt's house.
