For those of you that were distracted by the background or couldn't tell what it was...those are my feet...it the point of view of the reader with all the focus on the book.

Well duh, now that you say they're feet, they certainly are feet! I guess my suggestion for next time would be a bit more DOF letting the lines of the feet show up just a little. Maybe around the f/3 ballpark. It looks like you were struggling for light though (ISO 1600, 1/60, and f/1.8). I'd probably also suggest a better lit room, heh.
Pretty decent photo, but whatever is in the background is really bothering me for some reason. I can't figure out what it is, and my eyes go straight to it every time.
