Once again had to resort to BugGuide.net for an ID. From a normal distance these just look like plain, light green little blips that periodically jump from one leaf to another. Up close they have some interesting patterns. There are a zillion different kinds (give or take a few); this one would have been quickly identified if I'd thought to type the host plant into my search ;-)
New configuration: 36mm + 20mm extension tubes, handheld, diffused flash.
PP - cropped, increased saturation on non-greens, increased contrast, slight dodge on bug, cloned out a few ugly leaf spots, resized, sharpened, added border.
I thought this was some kind of butterfly cocoon at first. Interesting bug. Hard to tell which end is the head with the antenna stretching along it's whole body. Nice shot.
The variety of bugs is amazing--thanks for this up-close view. Getting these fast-moving tiny things in focus, handheld--waugh! The flash looks perfect to me--good job. I keep trying & failing.
