Sunset in Abu Dhabi, dhows (boats) on the Arabian Gulf. At certain times of the year, the skies have a dense layer of dust on the horizon. At sunset, the sun disappears behind it far above the horizon. Everything turns deep gold.

Taken with 100-400 zoom fully extended, plus 1.4x Canon teleconverter (640mm total). With 1.6x sensor factor, it's like a 900mm lens! Woo!

Wow! Just scanning through the challenge results and saw this. It made me stop & think, "Whoa, this shot is out of place!" I don't understand the low scores for such a striking photo. Great work.
Great silhouettes! I think my favorite part of this image, though, is how the sea just blurs up into the sky with no horizon line - like they are one. Really interesting color up at the top of the frame as well.
