I was very nervous to participate in any challenges, for my photography skills are less than honed. I was quite content just to peruse all of the submissions to get a better eye for what a good picture looks like. However, with the encouragement and tutelage of a magnificent photographer I know, I summed up the courage to go for it. Enjoy!

I also see the white balance being off a little, but I can't tell exactly what it needs to correct it. It could be that your monitor needs calibration, and you can't see it at your computer. Try looking at the photo on someone else's computer.
This would look good in B&W too. I agree about the composition being very pleasing.
