Too much glare from flash, maybe a diffuser or a bounce coulda helped.

would have liked to see the whole latch (right side) to me it seems to be cut off

Nice subject matter, but the flash takes away its mystery, and washes out the shot, would have been nice if you used a higher ISO without using the flash at all. The cropped right hand side of the photo is also a bit distracting as the eye follows the lateral lines but then is cut off on the right, otherwise good composition. I would have also cropped the top off a bit and placing the horizontal line in the top thrid of the photo instead of the middle.
