What's the weather like in late August early Sept? Is it too cold at that time?
Any time is a good time! This place is always good for photos. Sunrise especially because beyond those mountains are the foothills and prairies so you get to see the sun sooner then when you're deep into the mountains.
And define too cold? This shot was taken in January and if I remember correctly...it was around -5?

Great shot of a very photographed location. I love how the hot springs keep part of the lake open for the ducks and geese in the winter. Congrats to a fellow Albertan on your ribbon winning image!
