I rated this quite high when I first saw it because I felt you captured the separation between the spectator and the game.
Your picture is well composed with the main subject off to one side leaving plenty of room for the game. You show quite clearly that the girl is the focus of the picture by having her in focus and the game out of focus—this is a clear indication of the great divide and alienation between the girl and the game. The grey atmosphere and subdued colouring emphasise the loneliness of the girl sitting alone on the wall slumped.
The camera work is good and your digital processing is good.
You have taken a difficult subject that is very hard to express and you have captured it.
This is really quite nice. I wonder if it should be a bit brighter... dunno... maybe not.. I think it is framed nicely, and the focus on the watching chile tells the story from her perspective. Nice candid/photojournalism.
I have the feeling this is the playground of my old school... :) Nevertheless a nice shot. Although the girl in the foreground blends a bit in with the rest!
I realize your title makes her the subject but it also talks of the game. I believe the game needs to be in better focus, with the building out of focus. She is in sharp focus. The composition is good, but needs better execution. Good subject and nice crop job. Clear up the game and you got a good one. PTL5
Okay I could see a title of....'Scoccer Mom on the bench'....or "Girls don't play" ..I get it and the shot is nice. I would only of suggested some levels adjustment. It's a bit too dark, but it's a nice action shot. Justine
Composition: Subject Placement, Cropping, Background6, Technical: Focus, Exposure, Lighting, Processing6, Appeal: Is it Interesting, Motivating, Etc.? 6, Total Averaged Rating6. Autool IMO the relationship between the title and picture are key elements in this challenge. Even the girl in foreground seems to be out of focus or not fully exposed. Could be low light of winter but I think better light would have helped you out here.
