This is one of the greats that I have witness on this site. I placed it in my favorites to remind me what persistance and education in this field could lead me too. And that is quaility like yours.
Heida, I personally want to say this is the most outstanding shot I have seen in quite awhile. This is one of those rare wow shots that everyone wants to achieve. A big congratulations on an outstanding shot that is well deserving of a ribbon.
I'll give 2 thumbs up on this one. Not even Simon can knock this print, it is absolutely awesome. The only thing that I see in a negative manor is the way that the horizon looks, it gives the sense that the heavily clouded sky was added into the picture. If it is authentic, then that is quite a coimcidence.
Congrats on another ribbon Heiða! After seeing your "from the camera" original, it is amazing how a photo can be totally transformed into something extraordinary by someone with the right "vision" in the digital darkroom. What a difference!
Please do a burning tutorial for us! It would really help us understand what you do and what we can do to become better digitial darkroom experts like you!
Congratz on the ribbon, this was one of my favorites as well. Maybe you should do a burning tutorial? I am sure others would appeciate learning from your skills in the area. It is just such a wonderful shot.
Heida.. what a captivating, riveting photograph! Congrats on a well deserved blue! I didn't vote this challenge, but I don't think 10 would have been enough! :)
Thank God this won! I would have been so disappointed if it didn't. I thought it was Nazgul because I figured it was you in the photo. This is by far my favorite photo on DPC... possibly anywhere.
Has anyone noticed the average vote from commenters... 9.229... AMAZING!
Heida, one day i must come to your native land - the skies there are awsome with plenty of buring potential - we could have so much fun! lol
I feel that you see what i see when looking at a scene - kind of moody and what others may think as ugly, but in a beautiful way (if that makes sense). The kind of scene where people will look out of their window and moan.
For what it's worth, you are now my official fave DPC photograoher - by a long shot. Makes me want to shoot again looking at your new images.
þokkalega geggjuð mynd, ég vissi að þetta værir þú....rosalega flottur stíll hjá þér...haltu bara áfram að brenna þetta alltsaman, það virðist virka vel :)
ARe you going to make this an available print cuz I would love to have one! I can't believe some people (the nerve of them) to give you anything lower than a 7. That is insane. this picture is truly a piece of art..no doubt about it. Incredible!!!
hehe I guessed right, this does take place in Iceland. Is it just me or the skyes are always too low in altitude there, do people often get struck by lightings over there? Whas your model in any risk of that when you took it? :)) Anyways, it's a wonderful shot, congrats for the ribbon!!!
You were the first comment on my shot for this challenge, but I'm late to comment on yours: belatedly, nice job, nice sky, great shot. It's very pretty.
OK- show of hands... how many people immediately knew this was Heida? You are one of the few photographers here with a distinct style, and it's really breathtaking. Congratulations on another easy win!
Captivating. Is your model lit with natural sunlight? The position of the white cloud with the subject really adds to the effect you accomplished here.
A different shot, and I like it alot. I will be interested to see how much, if any, post processing went into this one. The sky is awesome, with having the lighter clouds around her head. I think the cropping/framing is perfect and the contrast and lighting give just the right dramatic feel to the photo.
I would love to see the outtakes from this photo shoot!
With almost 400 entries, it would be hard to pick out a single photographer - unless that person had an incredible and unique style. But I expect that is the case - another stunning image from Iceland! There are not enough adjectives to describe the emotions this image invokes. It's a 10 now.. remove the border and it's an 11. (If you are not from Iceland - my sincere congratulations on being able to shoot in the same way she does.)
Very pretty, almost a Celtic or Gaelic look to it (moreso than a religious look IMHO). Love the sky and it's contrast with her delicate dress. Good shot! :o)
The placement of the figure in this image in relation to the sky is what makes it work so well..very dramatic, made more so by the uninterrupted skyline.
Excellent work, sure to do well
Wow, if I could only make a photo like this.
This could be the CD cover (or DVD cover) of a Gothic band...
Great sky! Great Photo, Everything great. 10!
Wow, what an image, best so far in this challenge. The gradient in the sky is perfect to match the position of the women, combine that with the dress and it makes me think of an angle (and I now see your title .....). To be really nitpicking, I would desaturate the green patch bottom right to match the color of the rest.
OK (jaw hits the floor realllllly hard)...... one word for ya: WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNER!!!!! This is a Heida-style photo and the mood here is just "heavenly". :-D
I'm guessing Nazgul... hopefully, this will be your first well deserved blue ribbon. If this gets beat by a parrot or macro shot I'm going to lose my mind. 10+
Great shot. However I would have liked the shadow on the rock to have been black rather than grey, just giving an extra little bit of contrast, but other than that, perfect. 9 + favs
