Composition/ Content Content is simple and stark. Composition is better than if the grave stone were centred but not altogether pleasing. There is too much else in frame to concentrate on the gravestone. Focal point to me is the clump of grass to the right of the frame – it’s where my eye keeps pulling back to. I do also return to the cross symbol on the stone itself. Because of the angle of the sun the face of the stone is in dark shadow and the edges of it in strong light. This means that the light isnt really falling on the main element of the image.
Background The other graves and particularly the buildings at the top of the frame do detract from the grave stone face itself.
Camera Work - Technical Lighting not ideal – perhaps better to take the photo at a different time of day – and therefore exposure not overly pleasing.
Digital Processing - Technical Contrast seems a littlet oo high.
Fits The Challenge Content is clearly intensely personal but I am not sure it makes a photo with huge impact for other viewers. However it does clearly have a story to tell – I get an inkling of the journey behind it – I imagine an adult making a trip to somewhere far from home in order to find the grave of their father, killed in action.
This is poignant, with a strong human interest. I'd read the rest of the story. I think a different angle of the tombstone would be better. If you got real low, and shot up it would be more dramatic. I still like it. Grayce

Composition: Subject Placement, Cropping, Background8, Technical: Focus, Exposure, Lighting, Processing7, Appeal: Is it Interesting, Motivating, Etc.? 6, Total Averaged Rating7. Autool IMO the relationship between the title and picture are key elements in this challenge. Well done.
love the 2 little flowers . Great B&W. Nice composition. Good execution. Good focus. Execellent crop - adds to. PTL8 The emotion emitted by this deserves a 9
Very touching...any truth behind the image? Composition is very strong, but perhaps more tonal adjustment (e.i. more shadowing) would have yeilded a strong emotional impact.
