WOW...I have been close three times to winning a free study ribbon.....but this is a first...and a personnel best as well.
Thank you for all the great comments and votes.
This is Ella, a 12 year old ballerina that was a joy to shoot. She is extremely flexible, and we had fun coming up with several poses that were unique and different. This pose was toward the end of the session....I have tried this before with several other ballerina's that I have photograph, but none ever came out quite as good as Ella's. And yes, she was able to hold this pose for about 3 to 4 seconds....which allowed me about 5 to 6 frames to shoot. Thanks again, this is great!

Superb shot, pose, lighting, composition, processing.....the whole thing just works. Would have definitely been a 10 from me if I voted in this one. Congrats again!
I go speechless when I see this. You get the best out of your model to get the right mood, pose and expressions. You are awesome at B&W shots in particular. Huge congrats on your Blue and PB!

It's a brilliant photo. It just seems to me - well, if I attempted the same thing - to be a painful way of posing. ;-Þ Congratulations on another ribbon-winning entry.
Although just looking at this photo makes my toes hurt it is, of course, another brilliant shot by Jennifer. Congratulations on a blue in a Free Study!
When I first looked at this, I thought "there must be a cloned-out wire holding her up". I guess I was wrong! :) This is one of the best pictures I've ever seen here on DPC, and the fact that she can pose like that is amazing! First class job by photographer and model!
I don't normally add ribbons to my favorites anymore, because I generally think they're pretty bleh. This one though is incredible. There's not a single thing I can come up with that I would suggest to improve it. The pose is brilliantly unique, the facial expression is perfect, and the lighting is very fitting. The slight blur of the hand bugged me for half a second, and then I realized that's part of the reason I like the photo so much. It almost makes it appear like she's levitating even though she's clearly touching the ground. I can't explain it, but I love it.
Damn... I voted this early and sorted it into my top group, the 7's... Then Forgot to finish voting until late tonight, and missed it in the bumping, or I'd have pushed it up to 9 for sure. Lovely image, ethereal and illusionary. Well-deserved blue...
In my entire life, I have seen few photos this good. Stunning falls way short of describing it. Creative is but a shadow of this out of the box creation. Jenn, I am so proud of you for taking this wonderful image, processing it just right, and sharing it with us.
flawless bw tones...
as far as the pose is concerned...i am convinced that one has to born with this sort of "superhuman" strength and most importantly talent. i love the concentration and calm/relaxed expressions on her face. impressive all around!
