I saw this guy's work in a magazine and wanted to improvise to create the same effect. I was unsuccessful but I like the result just the same.
The camera is positioned facing up a transparent sheet of glass. On top of the glass is a ziplock bag filled with dye. I taped the leaf on top of the bag and I have a flashlight covered with neon stuff as my light source. I set my camera for long exposure so I can paint light on top of the leaves. The hues created is attributed to the pressure of painting the flashlight. The blue dye is almost opaque or blue with light pressure and is purple green and yellow with hard pressure. So there you go with the richness of colors. Despite the low score, I am still interested in trying to recreate Robert's image without getting electrocuted :D.

It was a weird set-up and I shot it in an awkward position but hey - the things we do for photograhy. :D
