I don't know her. Like me, she was watching the mass aerobic session in Rajamangla Stadium, Bangkok. I was desperate to have a good shot of the exercisers but to no avail. Then I saw her. And I saw her eyes behind the veil. She was an angel personified.
I have another shot of her and it was a tedious process for me to select which one to submit. I post the other one in my profile after the challenge.

I cannot remember ever seeing an image that affected me more. Not only is the subject "angelic" but you have captured her in a way that epitomizes what portraiture is all about. She appears magically in another world.
I wish I had been around to have voted on this. I hope that you will make this print available for purchase. It is wonderful.
I've left comments on over seven hundred photos at this site and voted on thousands more. (A mere beginner...) There are just a handful of images that remain clearly in my mind; this is one of them. If this site produces the inspiration, the skill, the dogged determination in me to produce one photo as good as this, I shall consider my association with this site successful.
Fantastic capture. This completely blew me away! This should have taken 1st place for sure! I wouldn't change anything here. As for the votes below a 6, they should be banned!! Would have recieved another 10 from me! I am adding to my favorites right now!
absolutely beautiful, one of my favorites of the entire site and it should've taken the blue ribbon!. I'd like to see a copy though with less sharpening, the nose is generally an area I try to avoid oversharpening on because of the large pores. Sometimes I go back and blur the pores a bit to make them less noticeable, the sharp/grain look looks fine everywhere else, but overall ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I love the color treatment and the composition with the eye/veil/hand.
FINALLY a well deserved ribbon. Jesus. Of all the crap that gets' ribbons. This Shot deserves first place, without question. yes, the angel shot is nice, it's cute in fact. But this, this. This is a photgraph. Outstanding, simply outstanding.
THANK YOU very much. I am here now in the Philippines and I was in the airplane when the results came out. I can't wait to get in the internet to check how did my picture fare. I am extremely happy to ribbon.
As what I've told you in the note, I don't know who this lady is. I had taken two good shots of her and I will post the other picture as soon as I get to connect my laptop to the internet.
Thanks for the votes guys.
To Heida, I know you will win he moment I saw your picture.
And to others, a job well-done. Placing 2nd despite the many outstanding pictures is a big big thing for me.
And those who voted 1, 2 and 3 for this picture, thanks for reminding me that the picture is far from perfect and that I still have a lot to learn.
Manny, I didn`t think it was possible for your portrait work to get any better..but you just proved me wrong.
I think I said all I can in my original comment..so all that remains is to add it to my favourites.
This whas one of the first images I saw in this challenge and it remained my best till the end. Excellent work, verry well deserved ribbon. I wish there would be atleast one explanation for the 1's, 2's and 3's it recived... Anyways, a masterpiece!
Not just good, awesome. One of the best photo's I've seen on this site in a long time! You had quite the unfortunate luck to be in the same challenge as Heida's shot, otherwise the blue woulda been yours!
So, how do you manage so well to show someone's soul? To say congratulations seems somehow inadequate but is the best I can come up with this evening. Amazing image!!!
Perfect lighting and the great pose help make this a very mysterious image. The sepia is nice but it also makes the white border very obvious. (My feeling is that if you notice the border, it's a bit distracting.)
I was hoping my photo would place in the top three. I looked through the entries and thought, surely my photo would place in the top three. But this. . .This deserves the top ribbon. Beautifully done. 10!
angle and monochromatic aspects separate this shot from the rest. One of my ribbon picks this challenge. 9 as presented (the hot spot right near subjects eye is the brightest spot on the frame and washes out the eye a bit too much)
Stunning work. I have a feeling this is one of those images, that, if we were able to view it with a darker surround, ti would show even more detail. The textures are wonderful.. love the toning and composition.
What a beatiful image. Excellent use of light and a very thoughtful, peaceful pose. I matbe would have cropped a little from the left - but that's just me being picky. Very well done (9)
I would like to comment fully on this image but it would probably take a week to finish. I love everything about it.
Composition, tones, textures, lighting.. all superb.
This has got to win a ribbon..fantastic work...10 but I would like to give more.
OMG, this is just perfect. There's not a single thing I'd do differently. I can definitely see this as a print. Love the hues and the clean and simple composition. There's nothing that distracts, in some way, it's like a silhouette, but you also have the details to keep you interested. Hope you get a ribbon!
I really like this portrait. The use of sepia tone works very well. The lighting is beautiful and dramatic. The balance of the dark figure on the left and the bright area on the right is wonderful. My only wish would be to see her eye a bit more clearly but that is a minor issue as the rest is so beautifully moving.
absolutely stunning image. great toning, taking advantage of the light, the right parts are just in focus and the noise adds greatly to the image. composition is excellent. the small amount of light between hand and neck is the SLIGHTEST bit distracting - tone it down a tad? overall excellent. now if i could just vote :)
