This is my son at the dining room window. Not only did we get two feet of snow, but the sun came out about noon, so the outside light was blinding. This is a one second exposure.
About the camera The camera is a Helix cigar box about four inches deep. The "lens" is a credit-card sized pocket Fresnel magnifier (like this). The diaphrahm (black construction paper) has a circular aperture about half an inch in diameter (~f/8). I use Ilford RC multigrade paper and Ilford chemicals.

Thanks for the comments! I've got to interject though -- this is not a pinhole camera (yes, I make those too). A pinhole camera has no optics. Improvised as they are, this camera does have optics. A DIY pseudolens, if you will. The aperture is equivalent to what you'd find on a conventional lens camera. You can poke a finger through it -- not a pinhole. Just thought I'd pass that on. Pinhole images can be tack sharp; these images don't stand a chance!
just joining the chorus here... good golly, your son is going to be famous before he is out of his teens. or the other son. or both sons. this is all feeling.
This is beautifully done. Love the mood and intrigue created by blowing out the focal area. Great:) Very interested in the camera you're using. Sounds like fun:)
These homemade pinhole cameras are amazing. I didn't realize there was such a thing. I like this so much. It has enough definition yet leaves the rest up to our imagination.
