[After Challenge] Something wrong went with my camera and I can’t explain how it happened. The date was set a few days in advance relative to the real date, giving a shooting date after the Submission Dates: Jan 27 2010 - Feb 2 2010.
The RAW file says this image was shoot on Feb 06 2010.
What really hurts me (isn’t the DQ) but disappointing you all with this unforgiving mistake. I've already sent the prof. I'm just waiting for the DQ.
Your submission must be taken after the challenge is announced and before the deadline, based on the Current Server Time (US Eastern Standard Time) displayed at the bottom of every page on this site. You must ensure that your camera date and time are correctly set to your local time zone before shooting your entry. If the date recorded in your original image file is not within the specified challenge dates, your entry will be disqualified -- NO exceptions!

Sorry to hear about the DQ. I had to pull a few entries for the same reason as well. Sometimes my computer takes on a timetravel and I get crazy dates on my camera when I plug it in.
Exactly what happened to me, back when I'd got my first dSLR. My only DQ to date. All I could do was send the file info in and announce in the photographer's notes that I was dead meat. So, my sympathies...
DQ means nothing....It was the best and still is the best. IMO I don't think you "cheated" so I feel you are still the winner but realize "rules are rules" !
Bummer dude, this was a magnificent shot. I really loved the use of black, white and skin tone! Not disappointed here I still get to see a great example of the art of photography, thanks.
I always knew you were a man "ahead of your time" and well ahead of all of us by the unparalleled excellence and dedication of your work, but sometimes being an artist ahead of your time may be a painful process...:-( I'm sorry to this one DQ'd and despite it's unheralded status will still always carry the True Blue.
Awww Jorge.......sorry about the DQ. Same thing has happened to me. My date was set 12 hours wrong and I was outside the correct submission window. Nonetheless....it is an incredible image and I am so happy to see you beautiful work again. I hope that you stay around for awhile. Jennifer
Whatever the date, whenever the time, challenge or no, this is a great shot! Congratulations on a job well done.
Me thinks it should be obvious that the picture had to be taken within the challenge date range - the image date is not before the challenge, and the image had to exist in order to be included in the voting. What a bummer!
Honestly I don't know for sure what I would be more bummed about, the DQ which obviously does suck. or the fact that 28 people scored this 4 or lower when it was a Blue Ribbon Winning Effort. 10 1's is absolutey pathetic. This is not a case of it being a bad photo. It is a case of people who shouldn't vote on an image at all if the content is not to their liking and they are only slapping it a 1 for that reason. Congrats on the Ribbon anyway, and sorry that you had it taken away.
Sorry about the DQ. It always breaks my heart to see a winner get DQed for reasons such as this. My worst reason is 'not submitting the original when asked to validate' that just burns me up.
No matter though, it's a great image. Now get your camera checked so this doesn't happen again. ;)
I really wish DPC can make an exception, clearly the shot was taken during the time frame and with the challenge in mind and having a date as further in time is a clear indication that no foul play was attempted!
Would hate to see you stripped of a well deserved ribbon!
Ohhhhhhhhh. .. Jorge! I am so sorry! Hey. Don't worry about disappointing US at ALL! It has happened to so many of us anyway (and it most certainly isn't an unforgivable mistake). Our only disappointment is disappointment for YOU for losing your well-deserved blue ribbon!
It sure is an awesome photo! And you are such a genius!
P.S. I just noticed that this won with flying colors even with 10 1's!!! That is just beyond imagination that 10 people so pathetically did that! But even more of a tribute to this photography to survive that!
Did not vote on this one, but hey... content is just as much a part of the photo as the technical merits.
And I completely agree with that, but I would have assumed that 1-3 rating would be reserved for images which lack both content/topic and technical merit. Perhaps it's just me but if I find the image "average" I rate it about 5, maybe my interpretation of the 1-10 scale differs from the rest of the DPC community. Just for the sake of transparency I voted a 6 for this particular image.
I cannot believe that 10 people voted this a 1 out of 10! That is just ridiculous. No matter how you feel about the topic and subject matter, from a pure technical perspective this image deserved higher and I'm glad it took a ribbon. Considering how many technically awful shots I see on here, this thing is a sham.

Jorge! How wonderful to see you back again, I was just thinking about you yesterday.
Huge congratulations on your blue, it's a fantastic shot. Sexy, subtle and in most excellent taste. ((Hugs))
Congrats! Masterful and consistent.
And to all those prudes who voted one, two, three or four, you haven't got a creative "bone" in your body, be you male or female ;p
Haha! Excelent idea and composition! Of course the title is about the weather...it's very hot now here in Portugal! Haha!
Or, that hottie can turn a cold winter day into a nice summer night ;)
Image is very strong--well lit, nicely composed, sharp, edgy, and of course sexy. I don't really get the title, though--where does the 'Hell' part come from? Nonetheless a great shot, and I hope to see it in at least the top 10.
You seriously never heard the phrase "Hotter than Hell?" Damn, I must be old. LOL.
Oh, I know the phrase perfectly well, although I don't see the tie-in to the photo--unless "Hotter than Hell" comes from "The Seven Year Itch." Haven't seen the movie, so perhaps we can just chalk this up to my ignorance.

...and yesterday evening, after I had voted I said to myself "That image could be Jorge's, haven't heard of him for a while".
Congrats on another very well deserved blue!

ha, when I first saw this I thought was you, but I figured you didn't enter much anymore, nice to see you stick your head around here. The 10 1's is also impressive. :)
Heh! Look at all those 1s. Always good to bring out the haters now and then! And how have you been, dear friend? Good to see you playing here now and then!
You know, it's nice to know after looking at over 50,000 images on DPC alone, I can still be surprised! Well done, from conception to technicals. Gets my blue ribbon for sure.
