Colorado and many of the surrounding states are in a drought period that is worse than recorded history. I was only there 4 days and it rained on all four. I don't know about newspapers but can tell you it was big news on the local tv stations.
I don't quite get the newsworthiness of the headline. Has there been a drought? To me, this looks like a entry from someone who was unwilling to stray from the comfort zone of their favorite subject matter and go out and make a journalstic photo. If you were categorizing this for the galleries would you honestly put this in the photojournalism category? It's a lovely photo and I have no problems with it asthetically but it fails to meet the challenge.
Beautiful photo, but the spirit of the picture doesn't really match the spirit of the title. The title is more about excitement and the action of rain. The picture has more of a relaxed feel.
a beautiful peace of art, but i don't think it fits in a newspaper. Newspaper pictures have to draw attention AND make you want to read the article. I think this picture -how beautiful it is- won't do that. It's to much a stand-alone
Beautiful photo - great composition and color as well as subject!! What a relief!! Too bad Canon City didn't get as much benefit from the rain as did the Springs, but you get a 10 from me.
