Great photo, perhaps a little bit over-contrasty for a newspaper, but the framing is nice. I'm not sure that I like your headline though. It doesn't really sound like a headline.
I don't like your headline (as a headline), but I like your photo a lot. I like that you cut off the tops of the bodies of the passers-by, keeping them even more anonymous and generic. The b&W is nice and gritty and the part that's blown out is fine. Good contrast. I'm thinking the focus is just a bit soft. 7
I was grabbed by this image at first. After thinking for a while I think "..heard THEM say" doesn't do the picture justice. There's one guy walking away and there are 2 people facing the main subject. I think the timing for the image was a bit off. If you had waited till there were a bunch of people walking away, I think it would have made a much bigger impact. I think you have taken the theme well and have worked on a brilliant idea. Good luck.
Very evocative image. The grain and slight unsharpness are very fitting. For a newspaper item the title doesn't seem appropriate though. Also, I would have cropped out the two pedestrians to the right, leaving only the guy seen from the back walking away from the beggar. 7
Too little resolution and too much grain. Also, the highly exposed nature of this picture does not really suit the subject, which is rather dark. I do like the relationship between the man in the sandals who has just passed and the man begging, but I think the other elements of the image conflict with the story being told there.
Great photo lousy headline it speaks volumes socially yet the headline you chose is not a headline but a commentary. Scored you a 7 where a well written"headline "would have scored you an 8 for sure.
Your choice of title while a poignaint social commentary leaves me wondering why you chose it for this challenge?
