Another shot from my series of photos of this awesome bird. Other than photos of my two children this series of shots is near the top of my all time shots, just for the experience alone.

About an hour from rollover and I stand to have a PB and the long sought 7.0. I doubt the 7.13 that I'm at will be enough for a ribbon but hope to land in the top ten. The series of shots of this bird has been very good to me here at DPC with four entries and the lowest score being a 6.6 and another giving me a yellow. As I stated before in my other entries this bird was amazing and let me get so close to her(assuming it was a her since she was rather big). These shots are not only my best of the year, they are some of the best I've ever taken. Thanks all for the great comments and votes and thanks to this beautiful bird for being a great model.
Wow, a ribbon, a 7 and a PB! Thanks so much and I'm amazed at all the great shots in this challenge.
Here are links to the other three challenge entries

congratulations on the most amazing shot and ribbon AND PB .. !!!!! .. you got excellent mileage out'v that bird and its heart warming to see that you received such a great score when ppl might'v seen the subject before .. love the rain and the amazing sharpness of the bird .. the wet feathers and how they look blown is fantastic .. definitely very deserving of such a great place in the 'best of' .. :)
Beautiful photo! I'm glad that it won a ribbon!
Just two questions that I "have" to know now LOL Was it rain or snow (my guess is rain given the background) and secondly, was this taken through a window? :) Just curiosity now. :)
Oh how I loved LOVED this photo the minute I saw it in voting. Everything EVERYTHING came together perfectly to make this a stunning work of art. Congratulations -- So many levels of reward here -- and so deserving!
congratulations on all three (or four?) birds hit with one shot - 7+, PB, ribbon, and yes, a bird. terrific capture as I already stated during challenge.
Haha, he looks like he has completely lost his mind! the eyes are like: "Aha! I see you now, cone! I... will... kill...." But his claws/legs are still sane, realy holding on the that rock there, going: "wtf have you been smoking lately? Your own feathers?" Feathers going: "No! We abandoned bird long time ago! I suggest you do the same!"
I don't know where I'm going with this. Was at a Eddie Izzard gig recently. Anyway, 10 and a fav from me. This is an AWESOME bird photo!
This cracks me up...not the photo itself...when I saw the thumbnail, I thought I was in for a real train wreck. But when I opened this I was blown away. Now I wonder what I thought I saw on the thumbnail the first time. Very well done!
Wow, what a great action shot that is quite different from the typical flying raptors! Look at all those ruffled and wet feathers! You captured such great detail in this nature shot. I have nothing to critique so I am simply going to take another moment to sit back and just enjoy looking at this wild bird trying to get dry. High marks!
I'm normally quite tired of seeing wildlife photos, mainly because they are usually zoo shots of pretty, perfectly groomed animals. I think that's why this one is an exception for me. The wet, ruffled bird just somehow really grabs me. :)
Stunning wildlife shot and the snow falling just creates that extra bit of atmosphere and reflects a bit of the harshness of enviroment but also the tenacity of these birds..Wild animals in general as well. Light on eye good. 7 Looking at us would have aded just that much more for me at leats
Wonderful image. Love the way you captured the bird at the moment he is shaking his feathers with all the water drops flying around. Great detail and lovely dof too.
