Lots of votes and views in this challenge. Must be a function of the relatively small number of entries.
Validation notice arrived this morning Jan. 10. Thanks, SC and admins!
Those who have commented have been very kind. Some very excellent constructive criticism was offered. Thanks to all. I suspect this image will finish in the top 5, but probably not the blue ribbon.

Lower votes came in overnight bringing my score down to 7.0900. At the high water mark at about 80 votes, the score was 7.3200. Overall, I'm very pleased. Vote #253 was a "3", but that comes with the territory.
On the issue of blacker tones and more contrast, I did pay much attention to Ansel Adam's Zone method. There are some all black pixels. And, there are some all white pixels. In general, i'm somewhat reluctant to push contrast out more to increase the tails of the histogram in the extreme areas where detail is lost. But, I think the image could use a few more black blacks, even if there is a trade-off. It's good advice.

I'm so glad you mentioned this on the personal favorites thread as I was away on holiday and missed it the first time around. This is a phenomenal photo. Incredible, really. Nice work. And a favorite of mine now.
This will ribbon or I'll eat my camera strap. Very Ansel Adams in it's feel. Great contrast and exposure, diagonal lines creating movement into the photo, sharp focus on the moon as well as the foreground and nice placement of the moon (ROT) within the composition. 10.
Nice to see I that I won't have to eat my camera strap after all! Congrats on a ribbon well deserved.
Awesome, Richard! Congratulations. This is Rocky Mountain beauty in its finest hour! What a good day for RMNPforumers, huh? I got an honorable mention in the portrait challenge too :)
I predict Red Ribbon for this shot. Pretty easy prediction actually. :-) I love the scene overall. The comp is great. Only thing that's keeping this a 9 instead of a 10 is the tonal range. I'd like to see more coverage on the lower end in the blacks. Great shot overall! Congrats.

Love it when predictions are this easy. :-D Wonderful shot and well deserving of a shiny new ribbon!

I love the conversion, and the red channel processing that left the sky dark really improves the moon. Perfect composition, wonderful contrast and just a great shot.
