This is a photo downtown Victoria, BC... about a 3 minute drive from the Legislative buildings. It's funny how close a completely derilict building can be to the provincial capital. Kind of a like someone getting mugged a block from a police station. Adjusted clarity, saturation, and exposure before exporting to CS4. Then USM and dodged the sky to bring some colour back to it.

I really like the earth tones of this building and its character. Some negetives for me that bring down my score. 1. a lack of detail that almost looks like post processing, like a noise reduction or something. I realize that could be the subject matter. 2. Since the subject is the building itself I would have liked to seen more of the structure. Particularly at least one entire window surrounded by the bricks. 3. I don't like the large amount of black in the lower left. I can see a little detail there but not enough to add to the photo. 4. There is banding in the sky. 5. Probably most important for me is subject story. Think about the photo as a sentence, what is the main subject? What are the predicates that support the main subject? With all that being said, it ain't a bad photo at all. 6
