I cannot believe I didn't comment on this spectacular shot! I gave it a 10 - and I thought I always commented on my highest rated images (and tried to comment on all). Simply superb. Adding to my faves. You always amaze me Roz.
Edit: Well, it's already in my Faves! hahaha I guess I can spot perfection when I see it! ;-)
Wow Roz. HUGE congrats on the Eureka prize. Many on DPC won't realise just how big a deal a Eureka prize (of any category) is. Well done. As always, I am in awe of your work with little critters.
Roz, congratulations on your Eureka finalist and wish you good luck for the next stage. Your macro photos are amazing and this photo present the best timing of capturing the momentary life/death of tiny insects. We all observe the world but your observation is so sharp that you captured those events usually ignored by us. You deserve the top honor, congratulations!
Roz, congratulations on an amazing picture and a unbelievable score. These flies are a headache to photograph because they are always on the move and tend to jump when the flash goes off. Your pics continue to motivate me to get out there with my macro. Unfortunately I was traveling to the US on this challenge and couldn't get out to get a picture. All the best!
I would love to see the feedback of those who gave this picture 1 & 2, is it really that bad or is it that they have no taste at all !
Another favourite to add.
Thank you roz for sharing this amazing shot.
Who gave the 1 and 2? I can't image anyway giving this that sort of score. Conrats on the top finish. Excellent shot and thanks for the posting the original.
This is a great find to start with. The fact that you were able to get such a terrific photo of it makes it even more impressive. I am glad you submitted it.
Oh my gosh, Roz! Who'd have thought you'd win a bug challenge?? I mean, that's totally out of the blue, isn't it? What with you being famous for your water drops and all.... Oh. Wait. That's Irene. You're ... you're the bug lady! Oh! Right! What was I thinking... (All in good fun, my dear. And huge congrats on the 8+ score - that's freakin' amazing! Are you going to retire now?)
That is totally, amazingly, unbelievable!! You should submit this to national geographics your shot. I would think it would be published in a heart beat! Congrats, and I never thought I'd see an 8+ shot. It's the first I've ever seen in a challenge!
Wow!!! Not surprised that you won the bug challenge but this is also probably the best bug photo ever!!! Congratulations, it's really beautiful (and that's a lot coming from someone who doesn't like insects). Fabulous color.
Well, dear Roz - I would have eaten my hat if you had not won this challenge. Needless to say, I did not vote on it. You can imagine how I would have fared looking at an entire bug challenge. But you manage to photograph vermin in the most aesthetic way - beautiful, really.
Enormous congrats on not only your Blue, but an 8+ score!!!!!!!! That's huge! I'm proud of you and happy for you! OXOX
Yayyy! Yayyyy! Yayyyy! 8+ What an accomplishment and milestone! So few here have ever achieved such flawless perfection and public appeal! You are so awesome, Rozzie!
Congrats on the blue and the amazing score roz, no one deserved it more than you. Well done!!!
About focus stacking, try it with still subjects when using extension tubes, you will have a lot of fun ;-)
How could any one give this a 1-5?! THIS IS AMAZING! Congrats on the ribbon!! :D If i would have voted, i would have given it a 10 for sure!! This has to be my favorite for insects!
Oh and congrats on the new PB! :P
All these bugs are off to the Artist's Union for more recognition. They will soon go on strike if they don't get a pay increase. Not. We can only hope :)
WD Roz, must be your new signature shot and one helluva score.
Oh there is no way anyone could have done this but Roz! I literally gasped and and had to steady myself when I saw this! Submit this to National Geographic, or Outdoor Photography or Popular Photography. This is one of the most amazing bug pictures I have EVER seen!
I expect this stunning image (by roz?) to ribbon. Just to add something, i think that you should consider focus stacking to get a higher dof, not with moving subjects...just keep it in mind for still subjects. Congratulations on this wonderfull picture.9
Getting that perfect side-on depth of field is not an easy job, is it? I think you did a pretty good job though. The iridescent colour is what makes this one, dare I say, shine.
Lunch did you say...hmmm this is very...might not be everyone's taste...but the fly seems to really, really "like it"...such colors and details all the way down the legs and on the back...oh, to be able to take pictures like this...someday...
