Last minute change of heart led me to put this view of Frederick Road in Old Ellicott City in. The other, a view in the opposite direction with prominent power lines might have "said" something but in reality would only confuse the voters.
This one's pretty. I like the way the light poles frame the scene and the soft glow of the lights on the curving street. Honestly the town would be better off without all the power lines cluttering up the views and the poles crowding the sidewalks. Sigh...it's likely that there have been power lines here since it was possible as this is the first place in the US a train ever went and where there are rail lines...

Justine's comment makes me realize that, in effect, I'm lying with my title. I was facing east when I shot this. It was early morning...6-ish, I think. Sun not up and fog not letting it get there. You decide, night or not? "Silent Morning" wouldn't work as well for a title...though "Silent Mourning" might have done. ;)
By the way, I love this feature where we can add comments as they occur to us! I've been away too long to know when that happened. Glad it did. Hope it wasn't painful in the forums.

There is a wonderful busyness about this photos...from the great old storefront buildings and the power-lines strung to and fro. So much to investigate and discover.
I think this would have been my top pick if you had changed your white balance to incandescent to mute the pinks from the street lighting. love the capture otherwise. 8
