it is such a powerful photograph .. i feel sad when i see animals in zoos and the apes seem to give me that feeling even more .. it could be that they have such expressive faces and i know that they are intelligent enough to really mourn the loss of their freedom .. :)
I agree with K10DGuy (but don't tell him that) - they really are very "human" to me. Black and white works very well for this, and you captured an excellent moment.

The Gorilla, like most great apes, is often seen as just another animal, yet every time I see one in pictures, I stop to stare. For whatever reason, they always strike me as having a greater humanity than even we, the humans, and sometimes I feel a tearing in my heart for the tragedy that it is we that rule the earth, and not they.
