The German flags flying here are due to a ceremony celebrating Armistice Day that had taken place earlier. As I was walking up the Champs Elysees, I noticed that it was closed to traffic and lined with police. Later there were motorcycles, then a motorcade with German flags, then a motorcade with French flags, then a few more motorcades and motorcycles. By the time I got this far up the road, they'd opened it back up to traffic and had begun tearing down all the scaffolding and such at the Arc.
