Many ideas, 4 hours of setup, various props from Opals, to Tanzanite, to Minted Coins to jewelery props and experimental lighting. 40 shots. Thanks to my wife for handling the lights and diffuser.
This idea seemed to fit the economic downturn and with the scales being level/symmetrical and the dollar devaluing...yet they balance out...

I really like this shot. It's very clever and while I feel it is symmetric I could see why others would think otherwise. Of course I don't see why you got as many low votes as you did. Had I voted I probably would have given it a 7. Good job Harvey.
clever idea and nice, clean work except for the white balance, wonder why this didn't place a bit higher. I spotted this as yours for a moment, but then asked myself why you would use dollar bills...
Thx Oliver, coming from a master stock photog. much appreciated. The scale is level, when in theory it should be heavier on the right ($100), but the OOB idea was to show that $100 is now equal to $1. I was going to put numbers in front of the bills, 1970 on the left and 2009 on the right but thought that would spoil the fun of it.
I used dollars instead of my own currency as I thought it would be more globally recognised by the voters. The lighting was a simple 100w halogen and should have been above and behind the camera rather than off to my left slightly. WB was Incandescent, I will experiment more with WB settings next time I try this.

I hope nobody is DNMCing your photo because of the different bills because I find it very clever. Great shot, and I love the creative approach to this challenge.
