Dock on Bear Lake in northern Utah/southern Idaho.
Taken in the morning, shooting into the sun. Desaturated using the lightness channel and converting from it to grayscale. I added a gradient on the bottom to accentuate the gradient that was already present. I cloned out some small bouys and ropes at left. I increased contrast by 12%, then used the dodge tool at 5% to brighten the whites even further.

The sparkles of light in the water add interest, especially with the forlorn looking sky in the background. I like the subject, exposure and composiiton and really can't think of anything I would change for improvement. Excellent picture.
Goodness, I used to have a recurring nightmare in my childhood and there was this delapitated dock in the middle of a lake - this is it. For most viewers I doubt it will hold the sinister air it does for me but... this one certainly has a meaning to me.
This one works really well in B&W. The dark foreground concentrates the eye on the dock, but still has these sparkles to break the monotony. great composition, great tones.
