I think you could cool the white balance down a bit to make it look a little more natural. Also I would crop the top down to just above the lamp. This would cause the back ground to be less distracting.
An awfully cute kid. Looks like she is trying to appear innocent. Harsh flash and a slight color cast are a problem for this shot. I try to avoid forward facing on-camera flash at all costs. I'll bet this would have worked out nicely with the use of existing room light. (You would certainly need to use a tripod, however.)
