The photo is great, but I got tired looking at b&w photos taken from close distance with studio lighting from the low key contest

I think I would have used a slightly deeper DoF. You did as normal and focused on the near eye, but that eye is in such a dark shadow it disappears. I think in this case both eyes and nose should be in proper focus.
