Photo was taken in dark room with black guitar about 5 feet in front of black background. Lit with a single off-camera flash bounced off of a white foamboard to the left of the guitar. Also had black fabric hanging to the right of the guitar to eliminate reflections. Goal was to have enough refection on the edge of the guitar body to define the curves on the left, plus lighting of bridge, strings, pick-up, etc. Would have liked to have the light fall off of the neck at the top of the photo, but could not make that happen.

Thanks for adding those notes. I've just started learning how to use off camera flash, and that was very helpful. I had tried a similar look for my own entry, but the object was not as easily recognized.
Excellent use of lighting to highlight the important parts of the subject. Hope you left some notes, especially regarding how you lit it. I'll be interested in finding out whose this is.

Technical: 2 of 3. Wish those reflections were gone, they break up the cool curvy feel.
Emotion: 2 of 3. I dunno, something's missing. I need something more to draw me in and make we want to keep looking.
