Harsh forward facing flash is generally not flattering for any image. Not sure if there is anything I could suggest other than a tripod and and a long exposure in order to avoid the use of the flash.

Not very appealing. The white piece of something - you could take it away. Bumping up the colours could help also (adding the autumn feel). Now it looks quite flat - I'm sorry :(

The boards have pretty straight edges, but the overall picture lacks general interest for me.
