With such lovely wood, this should have some gorgeous side lighting to bring out all of that detail and texture! Flat lighting doesn't do it justice : ) I'd also love to see a shallower depth of field to blur out the background to keep the focus of the birdhouses.
I think the business in the frame provides too many distractions to for the photo. I do think that you fall well within the spirit of the challenge, but it feels like more of a snapshot that a planned image. Not a shoehorn by any means, but still in need of better composition and execution. 5.
