After hours of trying different editing and processing of true 3-shot HDR versions, I finally chose this one: this was the -1 1/2 EV shot edited in Topaz Adjust (HDR Medium setting) with lots of twiddling, dodging and burning, etc.

I see some major effort here, but I feel the shot is seriously overdone. The water has crisp details, but the bird's body is soft looking. It seems out of place. There is also a heavily visible tilt to this that is easy to fix.
I'm not a fan of the sharpness at the background and the pp on the bird and foreground. I love the details on the foreground, the colors and light though.
