Landscape class exercise "analysis" (more critical than the usual DPC comment):
Hits. I love the perspective you chose for this shot. The inclusion of the lamp works very well and gives this great depth. The color of the buildings across the shore and the clouds are also exceptional.
Misses. Technically, it's exceptional. Subjectively--aesthetically--to me, this is a mostly cloud shot, and while the clouds and each of the other elements are exceptionally well presented, overall, it misses the beauty/peaceful/wow mark one can assign to the greatest landscapes. That's just my own personal "feeling" from this, as we all are "affected" by art.

First: Congratulations on your good image. The composition and technical aspect are almost beyond question. When I first looked at your study, it gave me the subtle feeling that the sky was pressing down on the strip of land and cityscape. Upon closer examination I would have chosen to correct the horizon. This would also place the pole parallel to the right side of the picture. In pictures like this, the horizon is critical. By making it straight it gives the base the stability it needs to offset the overwhelming sky. With so much sky. you do not want anybody to question the line of division betweem sky and land.
Of course, the sky is beautiful and I can tell by your shooting angle that this was the effect you sought. Keep up the good work. dan
Good clouds. I like the lamp as the foreground element with the background being a pretty backdrop. Color looks good, so does focus, and a fairly sharp shot.
