Dead cicada on a sewing needle, which needle is fixed as well to a bit of styrofoam covered with a sheet of patterned paper, about an inch behind the cicada. Deliberately placed focus on a small spot on the head and used only a set of small LED lights to illuminate from above. Camera on tripod with remote release/mirror lockup. I was aiming for something a bit spooky and strange.
