This is a self portrait... I took this Sunday night after a rough weekend... I used a sigma 30mm 1.4 prime and fiddled with the focus manually. took a few shots as I held the camera in front of me. the close proximity also enlarged my nose a bit : ) The high ISO added greain which I liked...
I am happy that this shot appealed to some...

oh... one of my favorites.. I didn't have time to vote this challenge and I couldn't wait to come back & see this one.. I'm coming back to make it a favorite.. Please please please keep this creativity coming.. I appreciate this so much.. it's beautiful !!!
For a learning site this image shows that how many voters don't know shit.
I would gladly slap the 3, 2 and 1 voters upside the head, if you could find their names and addresses for me. I'll do it...
Give them time. Some will come around and just need a few shots like this to be spotlighted (as it rightly is) in the threads. It will slowly strike them that "hey.... I like that." They may not know why - heck I don't know why I like some of the stuff I like, I just do. Some will never come around - won't help to slap 'em upside the head. Though it may provide a bit of satisfaction. :-)
Totally underrated. I didn't know it was you, and was really surprised not to come across it much sooner in my after the ball is over perusal. Definitely my favourite and most remembered in this challenge. Hope you like it as much as I do.
Well, I figured a lot of the quick fire power voters would not take the time to 'see' this one, but 4.5??? Man, seriously under-rated, IMO. But at least from the comments, there are some that see the magic here. It's a really great portrait, feel good about this image man, feel very good. :-)
Very daring submission for dpc :-) I really like it though. I think it works very well for this image, for this person. I think it helps in showing who this guy is, which after all, is the goal of a good portrait, no? Good job with the lighting too. So, nice job! Good luck with the rest of the voters. :-)
I'll be very curious to see how this does in voting. You have managed to pull off an out of focus portrait and it is totally clear that this is intentional. It works, too.
