Madagascar Giant Day Gecko,
Little Torch Key, Florida Keys. They are all over the island, along with a lot of pesky 4 ft iguanas.
300mm AF D ED Nikkor. Hand held from about 4 ft.
This Gecko is about life size in the opened image, or about 10 inches long. I kept one for a pet for about a year, and finally a beetle got into his cage. He tried to eat it and choked on it.-- : (
I used to chase lizards all the time as a kid... had a couple of blue-tongues at one point, never had a gecko though....the colours on him are amazing. Very cute!
He's adorable! Sorry to hear about the one you had as a pet. :-( Up the levels a bit on this one - ie if you use Photoshop, do levels and move the right slider to the left until it gets to the start of the histogram. (ie needs a bit more on the bright end!)
