This is actually 2 images taken on the same night about 30 minutes apart. The moon was just over the horizon and it was actually that color. You may notice some distortion to the edges of the moon and that's due to the turbulence in the atmosphere just above the horizon. The moon rose about the width of a large dinner plate held at arms length to the left of the city skyline. By the time it rose to a point where it was over the city it was very bright and very high in the sky. So I used the image of the moon, made it about 2x larger than it really was and pasted it above the city. The city is about 5 miles away from where I stood.
I really quite like the addition of the moon - it doesn't look out of place size-wise at all. The color is that lovely blood-red of early moonrise - gorgeous!
i'm shocked and horrified that you'd actually go to such lengths ..
dont you know this is a photography site and we're just not into ANY digital manipulation .. lol lol LOL .. !!!
on a more serious note .. THIS IS BRILLIANT .. !!! ... the contrast in colours between the moon and the sky is amazing .. stunning result scott .. :)
Nice skyline, and the blue sky looks good for this too. I think I would have taken most of the color out of the moon though. It looks almost the color of the moon in eclipse in this shot.
Very nice comination of images.
For some reason my first impresion was, It's the Death Star, reinforced by the laser weapon on the left hand side shooting down the x wing fighter just out of shot, I clearly ate too much cheese last night lol
