Wouldn't want to be this close to this critter. But I think the white edges brightens and de-horrifies the image. Maybe something darker or murkier.

One of nature's more secretive predators, coming on one of these underwater can be a startling experience. Very effective image.

yeah, those moray eels are something you wouldn't want to mess with! The unnatural colour adds to the nightmarish quality. 8
