After looking at this new set so many times over, I'm having trouble convincing myself they are photographs. Inexplicably they have gone into my brain as sculptures in iron and concrete and gnarled wood. And there they remain, three dimensional and solid.
All these great photographic themes you have explored, sometimes explored alone, in recent years ... secret faces, textures, influences of masters paintings, self-portraits with intellectual depth, the beauty and menace of nature ... have come together in the remarkable series.
