The Image: I can't believe this is sitting at 6.8 with around 15 votes. I shot this 30 minutes before rollover, in an old paddock next to my office. This is a thistle of some kind. once I adjusted levels, these nice tones came out of the image. So I kept that going and ended up with this.
I thought I would get mid 5's or worse, but I shake my head sometimes. Images I have loved much more than this have done far worse, yet this does well. Go figure...

Well a few days into the voting and this result is astounding:
i really like the colors a lot. i can't seem to find anything that is in sharp focus but it doesn't really detract from the shot. maybe that is what you were going for. this is a very creative take on the challenge
Abstractly abstract in an abstract genre of abstract photography bordering on abstract art imparting an abstract feel with abstract color blending imparting abstract texture. Can you smell what the commenter is cooking? :>)
A brilliant image and if this commentator had anything to say about it, would win a blue ribbon hands down - no competition. Brilliantly executed and concieved. What an image. Unfortunate that it can't be rated 10++.
I'm not voting because I'm in the challenge with you, but if I wasn't, this would have received a high mark from me. The transition from warm to cool colors is excellent, and the way the points thrust into focus and fade off into nothingness is great.
