Just a test in lighting multiple plains. Had noticed the interesting graphical quality of this dumbell/weight end for a while and so decided to try to capture it. I'm reasonably pleased with the results. Bounced a Nikon SB-25 off foamcore above for top lighting and lit background with "Night blue"=gelled SB-25. Slight levels, curves and contrast adjustment, but very close to what came from camera.

This could have used a bit of sharpening imo. Background works for it as a stock photo but I wish the text on the weight would pop out just a bit more at me.
I don't feel like this is inclusive enough. It's not really close enough to be a neat abstract macro, but it's not far away enough to really be a good product shot.
