Life is persistent given time isn't it? This isn't bad but I think the bright bud on the left is quite interesting so maybe shooting it so that you have that one as the main focus and add a little more dof to have some of the dark burned ashes in focus too. the best part of this one is the left half. The right half doesn't seem to add anything to it imo. However it doesn't take away from anything as is either. Just a thought.
A good idea that is well constructed and presented. No major flaws and it demonstrates natural texture in a very subtle way. Interesting use of DOF control to produce an effective, vague yet detailed background. A solid effort and very pleasing to the eye.
