a leaf in a mud puddle. I used hue/sat to turn down the saturation and turn it to green. The water/mud was black, so it wasn't affected much. Just the leaf went from brown to green. But I desaturated it enough to make it almost b/w. This finally achieved the "pop" I wanted for the leaf in the water. I would've much prefered an advanced editing challenge so I could mask the leaf and give each separate curves.

Greater dof would work better here because the bottom left needs to be in focus imo. Love the composition and contrast of the leaf. It would be a much different (and boring) photo without it. Having great texture is the point of the challenge but there are a few shots that are nothing but the texture with no place to focus on. Good job.
An image that demonstates the subject matter of the challenge in spectacular fashion with excellant DOF and color control. Both a technical and artistic success that more than adequately meets the challenge subject in particular with the grayscale shades. A very worthy contender for top ten honors and a possible ribbon contender.
