YES this dragonfly is very ALIVE !!! Was not my original plan to shoot this for texture. Went out to shoot birds , saw this lovely dragonfly and as I had my Sigma 150mm macro lens with me , I shot off a couple of shots.
This shot is cropped pretty tight and I am surprised the quality held up reasonably well, so lets see what happens.
There will be a couple of DNMC I guess (or maybe a lot), some won't call this texture just details LOL!!
thanks to everyone for all the votes.
Definitely did better than I expected. Started with at 5.7 and the score climbed steadily all the way till rollover.
thanks again.

Hi ,
There was a request to see the original so here it is. As I mentioned , the crop is significant and I am surprised the quality held up. Hooray for the D3 !!

I gave two images in this challenge a 10, yours was one of them... the other turned out to the the Blue winner. First time I've predicted 2 of the 3 ribbons lol.
Awesome image! Can't give you any critque as you're way more talented than me lol, so I'll just stick to the superlatives :-)
Wow! 5.7 to 7.0+ That is an amazing climb. The ridiculous part is that it started at 5.7 tho. It is so incredible! Congratulations on 2nd place! Hey. . .aren't you giving Irene a run for her money in the ribbon awards these days :) Congratulations on such a huge success run!
You are on FIRE! Awesome macro, in fact, stunning macro!!! Well done Andrew...you are enjoying a real wave of victory...That D3 is smoking at the moment!
Love the "catchlights" (not that that has anything to do with texture but they really add to the expression). Surprisingly hairy little face. Texture abounds.
It's almost as if these insects have become "re-discovered" as a new species on Earth with all these beautiful Macros I see everyday, years ago, one could never know what a Dragonfly really looks like! on a technical note, this image is just perfect, love the colorful green background- 10
If this had been cropped to just below the forelegs, it would have been perfect and a terrific demonstration of texture in the natural world. As it is it works very well and is an effective and provacative image. Well done.
