Great composition. Something interesting to look at in the foreground with texture yet the rest of the photo also has texture. Way to go.

I can't decide whether the softness of the hillside in the background works for me or not. Good idea and concept anyway. 6

An interesting choice for meeting the subject challenge. The image could be a little more dramatic. A little more focus would have helped this image score higher. The slight offset is a plus, but the background distracts from the natural texture of the hay bale. A good, solid entry into the challenge.

you've done a nice job capturing the texture. the way the shot is composed doesn't do a lot for me though, i think a wider angle to show more of the scene might be nice. of course, then you might not have as much detail in the texture you wanted to capture but it would still work in the challenge for me.

just a little bright...and to me...(not that I count) you could have had only the straw...the background does not add to your photo and the straw alone has loads of texture
