Just walking home and this character waiting for the bus struck me. At first I kept going but a while ago I promised myself to always stop and act on my instincts any time I get a gut feeling. Luckily I still had my camera attached to my tripod from shooting some cityscape stuff that turned out boring.
Processing wasn't a whole lot, aside from some vignetting of the outsides of the image and some dodging of the figure.
5 faves during voting that is definitely a personal best! Thank you all for the comments and votes.
ETA - here's the original, I suppose maybe that is a significant amount of PP

Gosh - well rescued from the original - I feel you captured in the title the hope that you wouldn't get mugged by late-night problem people. Looks just like Middlesbrough or many other cities at night. Very good choice of image, and completely on-target with the feeling. I like the warmer colour of the treatment, and the improved dynamics.
Wow! I can't believe you can't believe this ribboned :) It is AMAZING! Interesting art at its best. Congratulations! It would have been a huge disappointment had this one not gotten its worthy award :)
Gosh, this image just seems huge with the lone guy next to the stark tree. I love the lighting and colors, his pose is great. Nice take on the challenge without being overkill.
Ahh....so pleasing to view this. Love the direction you took. Emotional, stunning, gritty and great lines. One of my top pics for this challenge. Well done! 9
Keep returning to this image. Love the colour and the composition (are those tiny coke cans on the bench?). And it communicates challenge theme so well. 10 from me.
